Research has shown that over 53,000 vehicles were stolen in South Africa during 2016/2017 and 50,663 in 2017/2018. Approximately 81.02% of all vehicles stolen were stolen in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. Of the vehicles stolen, 57% were taken across border, 36% filtered back into SA as cloned vehicles and the balance ending up in chop shops.
What We Offer
Whilst security technology in vehicles has improved over the years, e.g. remote locking and alarm activation, it has not drastically reduced vehicle theft. As vehicle security technology has improved so too has the technology used by motor vehicle theft syndicates. For example the latest system being used in the USA, the UK, and recently in South Africa, is a remote key reader. This device can read and replicate a car key, in close proximity, by merely pressing a button and enables the gadget to impersonate your car key. That device now replicates your car key and the vehicle is merely driven away.
Insurance companies have a policy, that they will not pay out a claim, unless there is proof of forced entry. In these types of instances, there would be no proof of forced entry, as the vehicle was stolen by effectively using the “cloned” key.
A Zederlock is a strong, mechanical foolproof system which prevents vehicle theft and is therefore critical in order to protect your assets. All Zederlock products are backed by a 2 year warranty.
